Bongeka maDlamini Cebekhulu is a professionally trained actress/director/scriptwriter who holds a B/A in Drama and performance studies (UKZN -PMB). Cebekhulu has been involved in community theatre since 2006 when she was in grade 9. When she was in high school she joined a community theatre group called Beyond Words which was directed by Kiara Worth, a post graduate from UKZN. In January 2013 after completing her degree, she founded a community theatre organisation called Qhakaza Mpophomeni organisation. The main purpose of this organisation is to equip the youth with performing arts skills and use these skills to edutain the community about various topics and themes and also to tackle social ills. In 2016 Cebekhulu graduated at the Duma Ndlovu Academy, an annual film workshop. She has won various local competitions and still mentors the Umngeni youth through the Umdlalo omuhle movement founded by the renowned poet, Siyabonga Mpungose.
